MOHSIN music workshop with street children from Darna Association in Tangier Morocco
Under Lollipops Crown I led photography and film workshops where the street children were taught how to wrote, direct, act, and shoot their own short stories on camera. The second aspect of my initiative was to teach music, specifically how to read. Most of the music workshops were not recorded but sometimes I did record workshops when we were were writing music together.
This was a difficult workshop to complete bc of the group of kids I had. I remember walking in to the center and seeing men snorting drugs on the street and the kids were just standing right there. I noticed one of my students snorting. The boys of this particular class found it difficult to cooperate and to listen to one another. Eventually we got a beat down and we had the 3 best rappers cover a tune by a much loved Moroccan rapper named Muslim. The song is about street life in Morocco.
